Joining a 'slab on grade' foundation to a structure with a heated basement was the major challenge. Again, Dave went to City Hall and dealt with planners and engineers to overcome the obstacles. 'Our century old home in Petrolia Ontario suffered significant fire damage in August 2002. The burnt damage was to the upper story and the attics, more than 80% of the roofs and attics were completely destroyed. Dave and John Baer took on this project to rebuild the roof from the beams and rafters up. The roof being quite massive and starting at the third floor and going higher, required the skill, knowledge, and careful execution.

The roof has a few special angles and details. Baer Construction rebuilt the circular tower roof as well, and reintegrated it into the main roof. The work was also undertaken in the winter months of 2003. The cold and snow of winter presented added challenges. In all, the team worked as efficiently as possible and kept the owners well informed of the progress. Baer Construction was a pleasure to work with and their work is highly recommended by the Burnie family.'

'Gentlemen: I am writing to commend you on three of your staff members with whom we dealt this week concerning a leak in the basement of our home.

Jason Marcus, your estimator, arrived when he said he would, gave our basement and exterior a thorough inspection and sat down with my wife and me afterwards and explained what was causing the leakage problem and what he felt would be the best way to remedy it. He was competent, knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with- a real credit to your business.

Frank Joris and Donny Manchester, who performed the actual repairs yesterday and today, also gave us a very favourable impression of your company. So much so, that if we have other work of this sort that needs doing, your company will be our first choice. Mr. Joris and Mr. Manchester worked hard to complete the repairs in two days, and left the basement and lawn areas where they worked in immaculate condition. In addition, they impressed us with thoughtful extras (which we hadn't asked them to do), such as patching a basement screen window and a torn area of plastic vapour barrier covering our basement insulation. This is service above and beyond the norm, and we were most impressed. Like Mr. Marcus, they were personable, courteous and knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with & thought you'd like to know that all three of these employees struck us as hardworking and valuable assets to your company. Because of the excellent service they've provided (and the pleasant way in which they did so) John and David Baer Inc. will be our first choice for future home repairs.
